Jetavanaramaya

Jetavanaramaya is a colossal stupa located in the sacred city of Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka. Built by King Mahasena in the 3rd century AD, it once stood as the tallest stupa in the world at approximately 122 meters (400 feet) and remains one of the largest brick structures ever created. This grand monument was part of the Jetavana Monastery and served as a major center for Buddhist scholarship and worship. Revered for enshrining relics of the Buddha, Jetavanaramaya stands today as a powerful symbol of ancient Sri Lankan engineering, spiritual devotion, and cultural heritage.
