Kithulgala

Kitulgala is a lush, rainforest-covered town located in the western foothills of Sri Lanka’s central highlands, in the Kegalle District of the Sabaragamuwa Province. Famous for its adventure tourism, Kitulgala is one of the best spots in Sri Lanka for white-water rafting, especially along the Kelani River, which flows through the town.

It is also known for being the filming location of the 1957 Oscar-winning movie "The Bridge on the River Kwai". The area's tropical biodiversity and peaceful riverside setting make it a popular escape for both thrill-seekers and nature lovers.
