Often called the “Eighth Wonder of the World,” Sigiriya is a majestic 200-meter-high rock fortress that once served as a royal palace in the 5th century. Built by King Kasyapa, this architectural marvel features exquisite frescoes, the Mirror Wall, and elaborate water gardens—some of the oldest landscaped gardens in the world. The summit offers sweeping views of the surrounding jungle, and the lion-shaped entrance gives Sigiriya its nickname “Lion Rock.” It stands as a symbol of ancient innovation, power, and artistic mastery.
