Sinharaja, meaning “Lion King,” is Sri Lanka’s last significant area of tropical rainforest. Spanning over 11,000 hectares, it is a biodiversity hotspot and a living laboratory for scientists and nature lovers. Over 60% of the tree species and more than 50% of the animals found here are endemic, including rare birds, reptiles, amphibians, and butterflies. The forest is also home to small groups of elephants and leopards. A trek through Sinharaja is a chance to reconnect with pristine nature and experience the island’s untamed wild heart.
